GLENN CROCKER-MUSICIAN WITH A MESSAGE

Glenn Crocker was directed by the Lord to write Christian songs hoping to reach them who could be touched by songs of freedom and hope.

GLENN CROCKER HISTORY

Glenn Crocker hails from a rich musical past. He was born into a Lutheran family who were farmers in central California. They were active in the community and his mother was the musical talent. Glenn knew from age 7 what he wanted to do. He wanted to sing, play the piano and write songs. That was almost 70 years ago and Glenn has now written over 200 songs. Until he retired, he was among other careers a studio musician
He formed his first band at 15 and at 18 he took his talents to Hollywood. Glenn was part of the rock and roll revolution in the 60’s and 70’s and worked with many musicians including Warren Zevon and David Marks of the Beach Boys. He was also exposed to a variety of musical styles including Country, Blues, Funk Jazz and Rock. And, you can hear them all in his music.
Glenn moved to the San Diego area in the early 80’s and founded a music school where he taught the advanced students for 12 years.
In 2005 after a divorce and a bout with cancer (now 16 years cancer free – praise the Lord) Glenn moved to Bend, Oregon. He didn’t know anyone there and after two months he felt alone, lost, and rudderless in the sea of life.

A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD

Then, Glenn, moving to Oregon and leaving behind the troubles of his life in southern California, he found living in a place where he knew no one. So, this writer asked Glenn, in the first Skype interview a number of questions. What follows is exactly how he responded.

Why are you doing this?

“I moved from southern California to central Oregon 16 years ago after a year of going through a divorce and cancer. I didn’t know anyone here and hadn’t played the piano or written a song for over 2 years. After being here for 2 months I felt very alone and lost. I wondered why I made the choice to move here.

One evening I just broke down and asked the Lord: What do you want me to do with the rest of my life? Within 5 minutes I was back on the piano and a new song was emerging. I thought, well, that makes sense. Why am I doing this? Because, the Lord directed me to do it. I sensed He was not done with me, yet.

And, now all these years and 44 songs later, He’s still giving me new music all the time. And, with today’s technology, it’s reaching people all over the world.”

INTERVIEW WITH GLENN AND ED

As, the interview progressed, this writer became so moved to do what could be done to help spread the word to others. Also, helping to elevate the human condition fit perfectly with the purpose Glenn is accomplishing in his music, inspired from our Father.

Glenn Crocker asked the Lord what He wanted him to do with his life. The Answer came within 5 minutes.

Therefore, the interview continued with this next set of questions. Glenn’s responses are represented with little grammatical editing for clarity of understanding.

Who do you hope to reach?

“There are several groups of people I hope to reach. 1) Christians whose faith may be wavering. 2) People who struggle with addiction. 3) Christians who feel they are alone and are fearful of the persecution they are or may be soon facing. 4) As friends share my music with their friends, I hope to help them come to the Lord.”

Do you believe there is a lack of faith?

“There is absolutely is a lack of faith today. Church attendance just went under 50% for the first time in this country. Just look at our society and compare it with Rome in Chapter 1 of Paul’s letter to the Romans. We have sunk to the lows that you read about, there.”

Do you see Christianity under attack?

“YES! There are many forms of persecution. I’m in contact with people in other countries where Christians lives are at risk. In one country, because of the pandemic, people are suffering because of the lack of food, water, and medicine. The people who practiced the predominate religion of the country were given help. But, the Christians were not. This is one form of persecution.

Here, in this country, Christian faith itself is under attack. In some countries just being a Christian can get you killed.

In this country, there’s censorship in the media and social networks. You have to be careful what you say because the cancel culture is real. If they don’t like what you’re saying they just cancel/block you.”

GOD HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SCHOOLS

To continue, “God is being taken out of schools and government, so, our children aren’t learning that this country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. My songs, ‘Don’t Let Freedom Down’ and ‘Walking In His Light’ both address this and tell Christians it’s time to stand up and be counted. The silent majority need to un-silence themselves, band together and say, ‘Enough is enough’.”

This writer will add more songs to the article, as they manifest. Thank you for an eternal friendship, Glenn. Thank you most of all, Jesus Christ.

DON’T LET FREEDOM DOWN

The bass-guitarist, Joe Plass (from Kenny G) plays along with Glenn:

“Let’s work together to get people elected to all levels of government who share our same views and values. Violence is not the answer.”

WALKING IN HIS LIGHT

JESUS IS HIS NAME

A MOTHER’S DAY TRIBUTE TO ELAINE

AS THE INTERVIEW CONCLUDES

This author has been blessed, humbled, and honored to be an infinitesimally small part of such a hugely important and eternal part of life, which is our Lord and Jesus. Glenn and I have known each other in social media for a few years now. We both know that nothing happens by accident.

Ultimately, Glenn and this writer knew we were being directed, but we didn’t know when. God did and directed me, as well, to complete the connection.

Please, know that our Lord has plans for each and every one of you, too. All you have to do is ask for Jesus to come into your life. Ask Him, who is our advocate to our Father what is it that we need do and it will be revealed.

Glenn plans to write 2 songs per month. He wants everyone who wishes to share his work to spread the word about our Lord and Jesus Christ.

SUMMATION AND BLESSINGS TO EVERYONE

In all honesty, this writer started the article with the first sentence. Where would the next sentence come? Looked at it for two days. After asking the Lord to help make this right for Glenn, Christians and mankind who seek Him, this all happened in just 3 hours.

Humbling, it is to know Glenn Crocker is a friend for eternity.

Take notice and please heed the content of this article. Bible prophesy is real. Jesus of Nazareth was born on earth and He became the Son of Man. Mary and Joseph of Nazareth made it through the storm of a time where the concept of a virgin birth was not understood or considered possible. Jesus is returning, as He promised.

The time is coming. Nothing happens by accident. We are standing up to warn everyone of what is about to transpire. It is all part of elevating the human condition. This is not part of some conspiracy or cultish situation; it is part of the Truth.

Thank you all for viewing and reading. God Bless each and every one of you.

FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER

In this installment of Redmond's Review, he imparts his views of the series, 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier'.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier and its article image are presented courtesy of Marvel.

FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER

Did you watch the “Falcon and the Winter Soldier”? The show on Disney+ from the wonderful creative minds at Marvel was a wonderful follow up to “Wandavision”. Both shows seemed to help keep us all entertained at a time when many of us really needed to be. I was asked not too long ago, by a college teammate of mine who is also a friend, “What did I think of the words of Captain America toward the end of the final episode?” Upon reflection, I could sum up my thoughts in one word, BRAVO!

THE ‘SAILBOAT’ CONCEPT

I do not enter into the world of name calling and identifying politics. Rather I vacillate like a tacking sail depending upon the variables I find myself in. Meaning, I look at all the variables (metaphorically speaking using the example of the weather and the sail) to let me know the best course to take or if I should even sail at all. While, at the same time, understand that as a ‘sailboat’ I am built for water transportation and not expect the ‘sailboat’ to fly in the air.

I believe a fictional character can and should, if the screen writer, author, or poet decides to express views that are important to the person who is ‘breathing life into the fictional character’. As followers of the world of Marvel or DC comics, we accept the multiverse concept, if this is so, how can we say if whatever is spoken from Captain America (remember ‘Hail Hydra’) is anything but the “dramatic license” of the creators of the show?

CAPTAIN AMERICA – NEXT GENERATION

Now I know what you may be thinking, Darren, you answered the question but you did not go to the heart of the question. This is true but it really is a different question. Maybe, it is do I agree with some, part of all of the comments made by Captain America? I find it ironic in a way because during my college years my nickname was ‘Cap’ or Captain America. Blond hair and blue eyes tend to make that nickname come to life (along with others I won’t mention they were funny and salty and best left to the imagination). So, to answer the question I would respond in this way, BRAVO. Yes, there’s that word again. To me, Anthony Mackie plays the character Captain America! Not the Black Captain America, Not the Black Falcon who is now Captain America. He is Captain America plain and simple.

Courtesy of Marvel, Darren Redmond reviews Season One of ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’.

As for his soliloquy at the end of the season finale, I believe the points he raised not only have merit and substance but allow the viewer, if they want to, the opportunity to look up aspects of the points he raised. There was nothing “Woke” about his words, rather I saw them as ‘we can do better’.

THIS COUNTRY WAS CREATED FROM SKIN SHADES OF EVERY HUE

This country was created by skin shades of every hue. It has been fought for and protected by skin shades of every hue. And it survives today because of skin shades of every hue. Hate, evil and oppression come in every hue as well. So does love, charity and grace.

Captain America pointed out to me, my interpretation, that women and men of his skin hue helped create this country. It belongs to him and people with similar skin hues, and to people with the hue of the first peoples in North America and the Pacific Rim and everywhere else in the world. If you feel slighted I did not mention your skin hue, respectfully I ask you to please understand I include your skin hue as well.

As for Captain America and the Winter Soldier, I look forward to season two.

JOY IS THE CURRENCY OF CHOICE

In this Redmond's Review, Darren covers two different levels of thinking.

JOY IS THE CURRENCY

Joy is the currency of choice. Habits, in many ways, get a bad rap. We often hear of the need to break a habit or to move away from its more sinister sibling; addiction. I bring this up because I have a habit, learned long ago, that germinated and blossomed during my time in college that I still take part in each day. That is the habit of looking at things, and life in the way some one like Socrates would. Literally, standing around, (or in our world, sipping coffee at Starbucks) discussing life, philosophy, current events and any and all things relevant to the particular topic we are discussing.

Its funny, how so much of what the professors tried to jam down my throat. I disagreed with that; however, one professor, (my favorite professor) who while lecturing on subject of the Supreme Court, taught me the process of discussing and learning from any and all who are around. Simply put, the method Socrates used as he walked among the marble structures of ancient Greece.

I bring this up because just a few days ago, I was speaking with someone about various topics and the subject of joy came up. It came up in this context, I was relaying a story about someone who recently had some good news come their way at work, and that while happy about it, they did not feel joy. I was surprised at the reaction of the person I was talking to, when they said, “Joy, in my opinion has little or no real currency.” I can not tell you how much I was shocked by this view, because I am shocked by very little these days. As a student of the method of Socrates, to me every view has merit for discussion, but not every view has the stature for implementation in my life.

I pondered this view during quite times at the gym or at home at night while reading. What is my real view on the topic of joy; does it truly have value or in other words, lasting currency?

To back track just a bit, I never understood the Stoics, or those that adhere to that philosophy. Clearly, I am not judging that way of life, but it is not a life style for me. I was born with emotions, and they are a vital part of me. In my opinion, to shut off my emotions in all aspects of my life, would be to shut off a part of me that I was born with. It would be like asking me to show up at some place, but leave my ribs at home. My emotions much like my ribs are a part of me. Now, that being said, I learned like most things in my life to modulate my emotions and look at them as just another variable in the make that is me.

We, as humans tend to play volleyball with words. They seem to start off with a specific meaning then take on a life of their own. Words like happiness, glee, contentment, and yes, joy, seem to end up in the “same broth” of our vocabulary as we move along in the world we live. But, I look at this jumble of words and meanings in the same way we may look at the world’s financial currency. All have value, but depending on where you are (the individual, or country) currency (Joy, Happiness, Euros or Dollars) may have very little value, or an extremely high value to your personal life.

A person walking the streets of New York, with a Euro in their hand, may not be able to make a purchase, because that currency, in the situation they are in, at that moment has little value to them. It may and in fact has value if they take a trip to Europe, but not if they want to make a purchase right then. To me, the concept of joy, works much in the same way. You may not be able to “cash it in” for anything other than a high five, or a happy cry, at a particular moment, but that real feeling of Joy, can be cashed in down the road, when you need it most.

Are you Happy to receive praise for a job well done? Can you compare that to the joy you feel when your child reaches out to grab your hand and look into your eyes? Tell me, which of these do you cash in, when you are feeling overwhelmed or lost? The thoughts of others who said well done, or the look of love from your child who reaches out to hold your hand because you exist in their world.

og: joy
Darren Redmond shares his views on what is the true currency we should be using.

That is the funny thing about joy, its currency many times manifests itself from you as the individual watching others do simple things. The joy you get from observing the way an elder you love, sits on the couch watching her or his family at a holiday gathering and is just soaking up the occasion. As, in the joy you get when you hear good news about a stranger going through a hard time. Tell me in your definition of the word joy, for those of you who are old enough to remember, was it not joy you felt when they rescued that little girl all those years ago, from that well? Do you not cash in that currency of joyful hope when you hear of others who are lost or need rescue?

In my view, joy has real currency and in fact unlike the dollar or other forms of barter currency, does not seem to fluctuate in value. The joy you felt as a child becomes a driving force in helping you find joy as an adult, and then that joy helps carry you into your later years.

The real secret and best part about the currency of joy, is that you are the banker. You decide how much joy to take in, or to withdraw. Fill your bank with joy where you will always be rich.
