Contrails over central California are quite common. But, during certain times of the year they are not. This is one of those times. On occasion they seem a bit more numerous, but it is due to atmospheric conditions, by and large. This article identifies a certain anomaly that was out of the norm for a location this author has observed for almost 30 years.
CONTRAILS ARE NOT CHEM-TRAILS
Sorry to disappoint conspiracy theorists, but what you are about to read is resultant from hours of objective, concise research. In fact, this has been a past-tense interest from even the research of those famous individuals such as Jim Marrs.
We experienced an incredible aerial situation in the afternoon of January 11, 2020. There were an incredible number of contrails in our sky on Saturday. This author checked air traffic reports and this day was not consistent with such events during a normal day during this time.
SUDDEN RAIN IN FIVE DAYS AFTER CONTRAILS
The source of the above report came from weather.com. It indicated a sunny forecast. But, we received less than twelve hours notice that any rain was coming. During the early afternoon of this past Thursday, January 16th, there was no thunder. There was a gentle rain with subsequent wind gusts of up to 60 mph. We got over four-tenths of an inch of rain in just two hours.
Since the occurrence of the contrails no more have been observed.
IMAGE GALLERY TO THE WEST
What kind of aircraft have been observed? Well, central California is humorously called, ‘fly-over’ country. The occasional contrails usually observed are from commercial jetliners carrying passengers. From points north and south, contrails follow a longitudinal pathway in both directions.
Military air traffic was considered. On rare occasion, there is such traffic. But, the contrails observed are usually circular or curved during training flights. There is a naval air base located fifty miles to the west. There was nothing scheduled for this day. Further, the last air show occurred in late 2019.
IMAGE GALLERY OVERHEAD
The following images were taken from overhead. Some were close up images.
Yes, contrails have been observed overhead, on occasion. Certain times of the year they are more commonly seen than at other times. When the overall humidity is very low, planes and jets can fly over the valley without being noticed. Still, almost all the images were in a north-south position. Some contrails had some crisscross patterns.
THE B-47 STRATOJET
Since it is becoming better known of the long history of cloud seeding to help bring rain to arid areas of earth, this author will skip that lesson. Being more interested in what is presently considered as most useful to seed silver iodide and other chemicals (such as calcium chloride, dry ice, and other salts) in such regions, the B-47 has been in the news.
I failed to find a particular article that peaked my interest about this subject just a few days before this rain event occurred. However, it showed a B-47 flying with smoke trailing behind the craft. But, after more digging it was discovered the aircraft pictured was only taking off with rocket-assisted engines.
STRATOJET USED FOR CLOUD SEEDING
What was most interesting to find was the B-47 was never outfitted with gunnery. Its primary purpose was for atmospheric research. After its first test flights in 1948, it was used for meteorological studies of clouds. But, after more reading, it seems it is going to engage in cloud-seeding to create rain.
Hence, this is my supposition that we observed an actual rain event due to a purposeful seeding of the atmosphere right here in California. Frankly, it is a logical assumption. It is also well-founded to attempt to bring more rain where it is most needed. California farms food for 1/3 of this nation, as well as, for other nations, too.
There are tests with other aircraft being used in Australia. As many may know, the country is enduring a serious drought situation.
THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
In a recent article, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were conducting cloud seeding activity. Suddenly, a three-day deluge of rain drenched them. Subsequently, Iran blamed the UAE for causing flooding rains in their country. With the political climate the way it is in the world right now, I find it a bit humorous, but they were seeding at the time.

SUMMARY OF CONTRAILS
With all the above being stated, this author wants to stress that how the rain event occurred was not logical. Where we live in central California, weather reports are quite accurate and usually have a 3-day or more window to alert us. This was not the case. Again, what prompted my interest was an article to which I did not pay much attention. It simply claimed cloud seeding would be underway very soon. Then, we all saw the unusual contrails.
Was this a coincidence? Perhaps. But, once a bit of research started about what and how all this fits, there was a common denominator here. Frankly, it is only logical to help in any way possible to have more rainfall where we live. And, it was not a state-wide event.
In summation, your thoughts are most welcome. It may have been a coincidence, but…
